Grants to Support Serving Soldiers, Veterans & their Families (UK)

Charities and organisations that support soldiers, veterans, and their immediate families can apply for grants from the Army Benevolent Fund.

The Army Benevolent Fund is a UK charity that provides lifelong support to serving soldiers, veterans, and their immediate families when they are in need.

Funding is offered to provide support in six key areas:

  • independent living
  • elderly care
  • education and training
  • mental wellbeing
  • helping army families
  • housing

Up to 100 charities are usually funded annually, with grant amounts varying depending on the proposed project or activity.

Priority is given to member organisations of the Confederation of Service Charities or Veterans Scotland.

Applications from CICs, community projects, and housing associations will also be considered.

Where an application is made from an organisation with which the fund has no established relationship, any award is likely to be below £20,000.

The Grants Committee typically sits three times a year in February, June and November.

Any charity that has not been supported in the previous 24 months must always contact the Fund in advance by emailing  externalgrants@armybenevolentfund.org before making a formal submission.

The next closing date is 20th January 2026.
