Ogden Trust - Local School Partnerships (UK)

The Ogden Trust's School Partnerships programme has re-opened for applications.

The programme supports new partnerships of schools working together to enhance physics teaching and learning.

The programme provides up to £8,500 towards the partnership over a 5 year period.

To help ensure sustainable, effective partnerships that support student transition across the phases, partnership applications must:

  • Have a minimum of six schools.
  • Be mixed phase (primary and secondary). Primary only applications will not be accepted.
  • Comprise schools that are already in contact and agree to registering an interest in the programme.

Within the application criteria, priority will be given to:

  • Secondary school(s) without a physics specialist.
  • Schools with students in under-represented/disadvantaged groups.
  • Schools with science/physics teachers in under-represented/disadvantaged groups.
  • Schools with above national average Free School Meals%

Partnerships can include primary schools, secondary schools, or ideally a mix of both.

Priority areas for partnerships starting in 2025-26 have been identified using the government opportunity areas cross-referenced with IDACI and ONS data for levels of deprivation. Areas have also been selected based on the current level of physics and STEM engagement.  Further information on the priority areas can be found on the Ogden Trust website (link below)

In addition, the Ogden Trust provides annual Phizzi CPD for primary schools registered in a partnership, to a value of £250 per school for four years. Phizzi Forward supports the use of Phizzi CPD resources and curriculum mapping in a partnership’s fifth year.

Secondary schools will receive KS3 CPD in the first year of a partnership.

A partnership coordinator, usually the physics lead at the lead school, will be the main point of contact for the partnership. In the first year of the partnership a time release grant of £3,000 is available.

The closing date for submitting applications is the 10th of January 2025.
