Grant News
A new grant, the MACC Hub Flexible Fund, has been launched by the MACC Hub and administered via Third Sector Support Wales. The fund aims to support community-focused climate change adaptation by fostering academic–community partnerships, addressing the growing need to boost resilience among vulnerable groups to climate change.
Charities, not‑for‑profit organisations, local authorities, community groups, businesses and other voluntary bodies can apply—but applications must be led by a UK academic institution eligible for UKRI funding.
Applicants can request between £50,000 and £55,000 per project, with up to 10 projects to be funded. The total funding pot is therefore approximately £500,000 to £550,000.
The MACC Hub Flexible Fund can support a wide range of climate change adaptation activities, particularly those that:
-
Are led by communities or based on community knowledge and lived experience
-
Aim to increase resilience to the impacts of climate change, especially for vulnerable or marginalised groups
-
Promote nature-based solutions and other sustainable adaptation practices
-
Include co-produced research between academic and community partners
-
Develop or scale-up pilot projects, practical interventions, or innovative ideas
-
Build long-term partnerships between academia and community or voluntary organisations
-
Encourage learning and knowledge sharing on local climate adaptation
Projects should run for up to 12 months and focus on implementing or scaling adaptation actions, grounded in meaningful community engagement, especially with groups most at risk from climate change.
Virtual sandpit sessions are available to support applicants:
- 18 June, 13:30–15:30 BST
- 8 July, 10:00–12:00 BST
These sessions help develop ideas and form partnerships.
The application process is currently open, with no closing date specified in the announcement.
