Funding to Support Healthy School Holidays (Leeds)

Charities, community groups, and other not-for-profit organisations in Leeds can apply for grants of up to £22,000 to deliver hot meals and enrichment activities for school-age children during the Summer and Christmas holidays in 2026, and the Easter holidays in 2027.

The Healthy Holidays Grants Programme will support activities for children who are eligible for free school meals. This includes:

  • Sport & physical activity, dance, drama, outdoor activities, games, arts and crafts, environmental activities, and active play
  • Providing new experiences e.g. trips to the coast, countryside or attractions (day trips only)
  • Activity integrated into sessions that promotes cultural cohesion and understanding of different cultures
  • Activities that include cookery and:
      • improves the skills and confidence of families to make affordable, healthy meals
      • helps children to understand nutrition and how to achieve it in daily life

Funding can cover costs such as:

  • staff costs
  • venue costs
  • volunteer expenses
  • costs associated with sourcing food and ingredients

Small unincorporated organisations with an annual income below £10,000 can apply for grants of up to £5,000.

It is expected that around 30 to 35 applications will be funded.

The programme is funded by the Department for Education, and administered by the Leeds Community Foundation in partnership with Leeds City Council.

Applications must be submitted by 12pm on 31 March 2026.
