Funding for Projects to Help Prevent Suicide (Leeds)

Registered charities, community groups, CIOs, CICs, and other third sector organisations can apply for grants of £10,000 to £25,000 for projects which help prevent suicide amongst groups considered at risk.

The Suicide Prevention Large Grants scheme supports projects lasting up to 2 years.

Examples of funded activities include work that:

  • build social connection / reduce isolation
  • improve wellbeing
  • provide early intervention and tailored support
  • improve health literacy and awareness around mental health for participants
  • support engagement and empowerment of local people
  • widen access to local services that reduce the risk of suicide
  • offer creative approaches to wellbeing, including nature-based activities
  • provide effective therapeutic support (including 1-2-1 support, peer support, group work or crisis support)
  • provide culturally appropriate interventions
  • provide community capacity building - support to smaller and/or new groups

Small unincorporated and unregistered community groups can apply for a maximum of £5,000.

Around three projects are expected to be supported.

The funding is made available by Leeds City Council Public Mental Health in partnership with Leeds Community Foundation.

The deadline for applications is 12pm on 27 April 2026.
