Funding Available for Community Organisations to Support Vulnerable People During Winter (Leeds)

Community organisations in Leeds are invited to apply for grants of up to £3,000 to support vulnerable people at risk of becoming unwell over winter.

The Stay Well this Winter Grants are a partnership between Leeds Community Foundation and Leeds City Council Public Health. Now in its 16th year, the grants have helped to support thousands of people struggling to stay warm and well during the winter months.

This year, priority will be given to proposals that support people experiencing multiple vulnerabilities, including young children, pregnant women, disabled people, older people, low-income families, marginalised or isolated people, homeless people, people experiencing mental health challenges, and learning-disabled people.

Grants can be used to fund a wide range of activities, such as:

  • practical hands-on support, such as doorstep delivery of food, transport and shopping
  • welfare/befriending visits and/or calls
  • awareness raising and advocacy for winter vaccinations
  • games, crafts, and other activities to increase social connection
  • outreach for homeless people or rough sleepers, including warm clothing and bedding distribution
  • tailored or individualised winter wellbeing packs including information and equipment
  • proactive initiatives to engage new people with services

Around 20 to 25 grants are expected to be awarded.

Applications close at 12pm on 28 July 2026.
