Great British Energy has opened its £20 million Community Fund to help community organisations in England, Wales and Northern Ireland develop and build community-owned clean energy projects.
Great British Energy is the UK’s publicly owned energy company, established to accelerate clean energy development and ensure communities share in the benefits.
Funding is available in three stages:
- feasibility grants of up to £40,000;
- development grants of up to £100,000;
- and capital grants of up to £3 million, or 50% of total project value.
Projects may include solar, wind, energy storage and other eligible technologies.
Key highlights:
- Applicants must be incorporated community organisations in England, Wales or Northern Ireland.
- Projects must be at least 50% community-owned when operational.
- Local communities must retain a defined share of project benefits.
- Joint applications are permitted where all partners are eligible.
