Supporting Excellence in RE and Home Economics Education (UK)

The All Saints Educational Trust (ASET) provides funding to support the training and professional development of teachers in Religious Education (RE) and Home Economics, including Food and Textiles. The initiative aims to improve the quality of teaching in these subjects by offering financial assistance to both individuals and organisations.

ASET offers two types of awards: Individual Awards and Programme Awards.

Individual Awards are available to UK-based trainee and practising teachers of RE and Home Economics. These grants support activities such as postgraduate study, research, and other forms of professional development that enhance teaching practice.. The next round of applications opens 2 June  and close 5pm 1 September 2025.

Programme Awards are granted to organisations that design imaginative and impactful initiatives supporting the education and training of RE teachers. These may include curriculum development, teacher training workshops, and educational research projects. Successful Awards are notified in June each year..

Applications for both award types are currently open. Prospective applicants should visit the ASET website for full eligibility details, application procedures, and deadlines.

Previously funded projects include:

  • Bangor University, which received funding to establish the Centre for Religion, Ethics and Values. The project created a new teaching space, validated PGCE courses, designed short courses, and developed an online hub for RE teacher support.
  • Textile Skills Centre, which was awarded £45,000 over two years to develop modern, innovative teaching methods to improve textiles education in schools.
