Grants of up to £40,000 Available for the Rehabilitation of Prisoners (England & Wales)

The Forrester Family Trust has launched its 2025 grant cycles, offering charities across England and Wales.

Grants up to £40,000 are available through the themed grants funding stream, and up to £10,000 is available via the small grants funding stream. The small grants aim to support charities who rely on volunteer support and make an impact in their communities.

A total of £1.6 Million is Available for distribution in the year ending 31 March 2026.

The themed grants window is open until midnight 30 September 2025 and will support organisations working on the rehabilitation of imprisoned and formerly imprisoned individuals. This focus means that projects offering support, opportunities, or services geared toward helping justice-involved individuals reintegrate into society are prioritised.

Examples might include:

  • Services that assist with housing, employment, or mental health support for ex-offenders
  • Programmes offering educational or skills training, including mentorships or apprenticeships
  • Community-based initiatives such as peer support groups or rehabilitative counseling
  • Innovative approaches filling gaps not addressed by public or commercial sectors

The small grants round will open later, from 1 December to 31 December 2025, for charities with incomes under £250,000.

Eligible applicants must be registered charities in England and Wales, apply online, and meet income thresholds of under £5 million for themed grants and under £250,000 for small grants. The Trust aims to award funds within three months of each closing date.
