Grant News
Community groups across England can apply for grants to the Heritage Revival Fund to save neglected historic buildings. The scheme is administered by the Architectural Heritage Fund (AHF) with support from Historic England and the Department for Culture, Media & Sport.
The programme aims to bring disused heritage buildings, particularly those in town centres, back into community use. Funding is available for all stages of development, from early feasibility studies to large-scale capital works.
Eligible applicants include charitable trusts, community benefit societies, cooperatives, parish councils and community interest companies. Private individuals, for-profit businesses, and local authorities are excluded unless working in partnership with an eligible organisation.
Grant levels vary: up to £15,000 is available for Project Viability studies, which cover feasibility work such as condition surveys, options appraisals, business planning, and community consultations. Up to £100,000 is offered for Project Development, supporting architectural design, specialist surveys, permissions, project management, and fundraising strategies. Capital Works grants of up to £350,000 support construction and repair. Match funding is expected for larger awards, ranging from 10% to 20%.
Applications for Project Viability and Development grants are accepted on a rolling basis, with decisions announced quarterly. Capital Grant expressions of interest have now closed, with shortlisted applicants due to be considered in December 2025. All funding awarded must be spent between April 2025 and March 2026.
