Fuel Support Scheme Extended to Support Low-Income Households Fuel Support Scheme Extended to Support Low-Income Households (Wales)

In recognition of the ongoing cost-of-living crisis, the Welsh government is investing an additional £90 million in its Fuel Support Scheme to help more low-income households keep their homes warm this autumn and winter.

Around 166,000 households had previously received a £200 Winter Fuel Payment to help them pay their energy bills. The extension of the scheme means that an additional 200,000 households on child tax credits, pension credits, disability benefits, carers allowance, contributory benefits, and those receiving help to pay their council tax bill will now be eligible for support.

No timeframe has been given for when exactly the payments will be made.
