Democratic Engagement Fund (Wales)

The Welsh Government has allocated £400,000 to enhance democratic engagement in Wales. The grant is open to all third-sector organisations, community groups, and local authorities in Wales.

The Democratic Engagement Fund consists of two strands. Grants of above £1,000 and grants of below £1,000. The application window for grants above £1,000 is now closed, and the fund is currently only accepting applications for grants of £1,000 or less.
The grant was introduced to encourage and support people in engaging with the democratic process and to reduce the democratic deficit. It is part of the Welsh Government's commitment to making Wales a more democratic country.

The Welsh Government will be looking to fund projects that either build on work that has already demonstrated impact or those that have an innovative approach to overcoming identified barriers to participation in democracy. The Welsh Government would also be interested in funding projects with a digital element to inform, motivate and empower under-represented groups.
Grant applications for under £1,000 can be submitted at any time.

Applicants should expect to receive a response within 15 working days.
