Funding to Support Service Children in Schools (Wales)

Funding is available to help schools and local authorities provide additional support to children from families of Service personnel.

The Supporting Service Children in Education in Wales Fund (2023/24), funded by the Welsh Government and administered by SSCE Cymru, will award grants of up to £3,000 to help schools and local authorities in Wales to deliver projects for service children aged 4 to 16, linked to the curriculum in Wales.

There are two funding streams:

  • Grants of £1,000 are open to all schools and local authorities in Wales.
  • Grants of up to £3,000 are open to schools that have achieved their Armed Forces Friendly Schools Cymru Bronze status and all local authorities.

Interventions should support children to overcome barriers linked to:

  • social / emotional wellbeing
  • academic attainment

The funding could be used to support:

  • coordinated projects
  • staff costs
  • courses/training
  • resources
  • outsourced projects/packages

Local authority and/or school cluster collaboration is encouraged.

The scheme is open for applications throughout the academic year, and the next application review date is the 13th December 2024.
