Funding to Improve Access to Physical Activity (Wales)

Grants of between £300 and £50,000 are available to support sports clubs and community organisations across Wales to improve access to physical activity.

With funding from the National Lottery, the Sports Wales Be Active Wales Fund will support projects that promote equality, and create long-term sustainability and innovation in sport.

Examples of projects include:

  • equipment to help more people take part in sport
  • coaching courses that upskill coaches and volunteers
  • entry-level training courses, such as first aid or officiating
  • hiring venues for new teams
  • pitch improvement projects

Applicants must contribute at least 10% of the total project cost. In general, for awards of:

  • £300 to £25,000, Sport Wales will fund up to 90% of the project costs
  • £25,001 to £50,000, Sport Wales will fund up to 80% of the project costs

A total of £1m is available for sports clubs and not-for-profit organisations.

The closing date for submitting applications is 9 am on 11 September 2026.
