Grant News
Community-led organisations based in Wales can apply for grants of £100 to £15,000 to support local action on climate change and sustainability.
The funding is made available through the Sustainable Steps Wales – Egin Grants programme, delivered by the National Lottery Community Fund and funded through the Dormant Assets Scheme, which uses unclaimed financial assets to benefit communities.
The programme is open to organisations that have already taken part in the Egin mentoring programme. To be eligible, groups must have completed an action plan developed through this mentoring support before applying. The Egin programme offers peer mentoring to help organisations shape and prepare their sustainability projects.
The grants are designed to help groups turn early-stage ideas into practical projects that benefit both people and the environment.
Funded projects should address climate change, promote sustainable living, or strengthen community responses to environmental challenges. Projects must involve local people and may also improve wellbeing, strengthen community connections, and support nature.
Funding decisions are usually made within four weeks of application. Successful organisations are expected to begin their projects within three months of receiving an offer.
The grants can support a wide range of activities, including
- community food initiatives,
- sustainable transport or energy projects,
- waste reduction schemes
Applications can be submitted at any time and decisions are made within 4 weeks.
