Grants of up to £15,000 Available to Engage Communities in Climate Action (Wales)

The National Lottery Community Fund has launched the Sustainable Steps Wales - Egin Grants, aiming to support community groups in Wales embarking on climate action and sustainable living initiatives.

Eligible groups and organisations can apply for grants ranging from £100 to £15,000, with a total of £3.75 million available over five years. This funding is designed to help communities to implement their action plans developed through the Egin Mentoring Service, facilitating projects that address climate change at the grassroots level.

The grants are intended to support a variety of activities, including projects related to food, transport, energy, and waste reduction. Examples can include community gardens, sustainable transport initiatives, energy efficiency improvements, and waste minimisation efforts. The primary focus is on projects that engage communities in climate action and promote sustainable practices.

Organisations must have completed mentoring with Egin and developed a corresponding action plan to be eligible. Organisations eligible to apply include registered charities, voluntary or community organisations, charitable incorporated organisations (CIOs), co-operative societies with a not-for-profit clause, companies limited by guarantee with a not-for-profit clause, community interest companies, community benefit societies, unregistered voluntary or community organisations, and town and community councils.

Applications are open on a rolling basis. Interested parties should contact the fund via phone at 0300 123 0735 or email at sustainablestepswales@tnlcommunityfund.org.uk to request an application form. This initiative is funded through the Dormant Assets Scheme.
