Grant News
To combat the degradation of Welsh peatlands, Natural Resources Wales (NRW) has launched the Peatland Restoration Grant 2025, allocating approximately £700,000 to support peatland restoration projects across Wales.
Applicants can request funding between £10,000 and £250,000 per project, covering up to 100% of project costs. The grant aims to reverse habitat loss and improve the condition of Welsh peatlands by supporting restoration activities scheduled between May 2025 and March 2026.
Eligible applicants include individuals, public sector bodies, registered charities, universities, research institutes, third sector organisations, and private sector entities. Lead applicants must demonstrate experience in peatland restoration within the past decade or secure technical support from a qualified partner.
The grant focuses on projects addressing priorities outlined in the National Peatland Action Programme, such as mitigating peatland erosion and drainage, promoting sustainable management of blanket and lowland peats, restoring afforested peatlands, and targeting high carbon-emitting peatlands.
Funded activities may encompass direct project costs, including equipment, contractors, consultants, and staff expenses related to capital restoration efforts.
Additionally, networking expenditures and overheads are considered eligible.
The closing date for applications is the 18th March 2025.
The application process is outlined on the Natural Resources Wales website (link below).
