Grant News
Sports clubs and community organisations across Wales can apply for funding through the Be Active Wales Fund funding rounds for 2025-26. The Be Active Wales Fund, administered by Sport Wales and funded through National Lottery money.
The scheme, which offers grants ranging from £300 to £50,000, aims to boost sports participation and enhance facilities throughout Welsh communities.
The Be Active Wales Fund may support such things as:
- Equipment to help more people take part in sport
- Coaching courses (up to level 2) that upskill coaches and volunteers
- Entry-level training courses, such as First Aid or Officiating.
- Venue hire for new teams only (for a maximum of ten weeks)
- Pitch improvement projects
Organisations seeking funding will need to demonstrate their commitment to the project through matched contributions. For grants between £300 and £25,000, applicants must contribute 10% of the total project cost. For larger applications between £25,001 and £50,000, the contribution requirement is 20%. Special provisions apply to specific improvements such as floodlighting, where a 50% contribution cap is in place.
Three distinct application rounds have been scheduled throughout the year, giving organisations multiple opportunities to secure funding. The closing date for the second funding round is 9 am on the 12th September 2025.
