£1 Million Weather-Proofing Fund for Tourism Attractions (Wales)

The Welsh Government has launched a new £1 million fund to support tourism attractions across Wales to welcome visitors whatever the weather.

The Year of Croeso Weather-Proofing Fund will provide capital grants of between £5,000 and £20,000 to support the costs of installing weather-proofing measures which will mitigate the impact of poor weather on trading and on the visitor experience.

The grants could cover a variety of measures such as:

  • canopies or pergolas
  • covered seating areas
  • covered walkways
  • visitor shelters
  • woodchip or gravel pathways
  • hard standing for car parks

The scheme is open to tourism attraction businesses which are SMEs, are accredited under the VAQAS scheme (or are eligible and willing to seek VAQAS accreditation) and have been trading for at least a year.

Applicants are especially encouraged to consider how their weather-proofing measures might intrigue and surprise visitors, and change perceptions of what visiting the attraction in poor weather might be like.

The closing date for applications is the 22nd May 2025.
