Grant News
Businesses across the UK are being offered a share of £20 million of government funding to develop medical technologies, digital tools, and medicines to tackle drug and alcohol addiction.
The funding is delivered through Innovate UK as part of the Addiction Healthcare Goals (AHG) programme led by the Office for Life Sciences.
The AHG Goals - Catalysing Innovation Awards will support innovations such as new medicines, medical devices, wearables, AI-enabled tools, treatment apps, and virtual reality therapies designed to improve treatment recovery, prevent relapse, and reduce the risk of overdose and deaths.
The competition features two strands to support innovations at different stages:
- The Advancing Innovation Strand – will award up to £10 million for late-stage projects demonstrating real-world effectiveness and readiness for regulatory approval
- The Contracts for Innovation Strand – will award up to £1.5 million for early-stage projects with the potential to demonstrate initial efficacy and UK market fit by the end of the project
UK registered businesses of any size are eligible to apply.
Successful applicants will also receive regulatory guidance from the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency, and the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence to help accelerate approval and rollout.
Applications close on the 6th May 2026.
