Further and higher education institutions in Wales can apply for loan funding to support projects that reduce carbon emissions across their estates.
The funding is available through Digarbon Round 3, the Decarbonisation Fund for Tertiary Education in Wales, which is delivered by Salix Finance on behalf of the Welsh Government.
A total of £10.2 million is available for applications in the 2026/27 financial year. There is a soft cap of £2.5 million per application, although larger applications may be considered. There is no formal minimum application value, but applicants are advised to avoid marginal applications below £50,000 unless they are clearly justified.
Funding can support a range of decarbonisation measures, including
- heat decarbonisation,
- energy efficiency,
- renewable energy,
- electric vehicles EV charging infrastructure.
Eligible buildings must be existing non-domestic buildings in Wales owned by eligible further or higher education institutions. Buildings held on long-term leases may also be included where at least 10 years remain on the lease.
Applicants may include multiple measures and buildings in one application, but only one application is allowed per institution.
The deadline for applications is 25 June 2026.
