National Grid Electricity Distribution and Localgiving have opened the Community Matters Fund (Energy Affordability) 2026, with £500,000 available to tackle fuel poverty and improve energy affordability. National Grid Electricity Distribution supplies electricity to around eight million customers across the Midlands, Southwest England and South Wales.
Registered charities and non-profit companies limited by guarantee can apply for grants of up to £5,000. Constituted charitable organisations without a charity number can apply for up to £2,000. Applicants must be based in the Midlands, Southwest England or South Wales.
Applications should support one or more of the following themes:
- Distributing warm packs or energy efficiency measures for households, such as warm blankets, radiator keys, insulated curtains and draught excluders
- Visiting isolated households to help residents make their homes warmer and more energy efficient Running warm spaces in community buildings
- Improving the energy efficiency of community buildings used as warm spaces
- Providing advice on tariff switching, energy saving, Winter Fuel Payments and other fuel poverty support
Projects delivering sustainable reductions in household energy bills are particularly encouraged.
