Grants of Up to £100,000 Available to Set uo Electrical Recycling Pilots (UK)

Material Focus has opened its Electricals Recycling Fund 2026, offering £1 million to support practical projects that make it easier for households to recycle small unwanted electricals at convenient local drop-off points.

The fund is open to established community sector organisations - such as registered charities and local authorities.

Applicants can apply for up to £0.50 per household served, capped at £100,000 per organisation. The programme is aimed at pilots that improve access to electrical recycling, particularly in areas where suitable services are currently limited.

Funded activity can include:

  • installing on-street bring banks,
  • creating indoor community drop-off points in places such as libraries and community buildings,
  • and refurbishing existing recycling banks with Recycle Your Electricals branding.

Funding can also cover related eligible costs such as containers, installation and site works, vehicle rental, event delivery, staff time for project management and reporting, battery safety equipment, and promotional activity.

Projects must run for one year and applicants will need to show long-term potential beyond the funded period, including how they will promote the service using Material Focus’s HypnoCat-branded campaign assets. Applications must also name a registered PCS scheme, include a risk assessment, audited accounts, and a project plan.

Material Focus expects to notify applicants of final decisions by the end of June 2026. Applicants should check the application page and guidance documents for the deadline and full submission requirements.

The closing date for applications is 31 May 2026.
