Funding to Support Improvements to Rural Community Building (England)
Village halls across England can apply for grants of between £2,000 and £5,000 to improve and modernise their facilities.
The Village Halls Small Grants Fund, delivered by Action with Communities in Rural England (ACRE) and funded by Defra, will support small capital improvements to rural community buildings that improve accessibility, sustainability, and community use.
This might include:
- boiler replacements
- insulation
- toilet upgrades
- new kitchens
Activities should seek to achieve one or more of the following outcomes for their communities:
- improved health and/or wellbeing and/or reduction in rural loneliness
- positive impact on the local environment, contributes towards net zero
- support for the local rural economy
- promotion of community cohesion
The grant covers up to 20% of eligible capital project costs (applicants must show the remaining 80% funding is secured or forthcoming).
Applications will close when all funds are allocated.
