Younity, which supports the UK community energy sector by helping community-led renewable energy groups sell their green power and deliver sustainable local energy projects, has announced that its 2026 Powering Communities Fund is open for applications. The funding is available to local community energy groups and organisations across the UK, with grants of up to £5,000 available to support local social and environmental projects.
Projects should deliver impact in at least one of the following areas:
- community engagement (outreach and participation)
- environmental impact
- educational and awareness-raising initiatives
- collaboration and partnerships
- innovation and creativity
Grants can be used for:
- equipment purchases
- local events or workshops
- staff costs
- volunteer training
- project expansion
- support to help an organisation meet a quality standard
- developing local services or venues
The fund is delivered in partnership with Your Co-op Energy.
To be eligible, organisations must have a current or upcoming Power Purchase Agreement with Younity or have used its Kickstart Loan facility.
Applications close at 9am on 1 June 2026.
