Grants of up to £70,000 Available for International Education Projects (International)
The Educational Opportunity Foundation has opened its Main Fund for international projects, offering grants of £30,000 to £70,000 to improve educational opportunities for disadvantaged young people worldwide.
Funding is available for projects that:
- Improve access to education – Including increasing the number of educational opportunities, especially for girls, (including construction of classrooms or latrines), increasing the number of qualified teachers trained in inclusive, non-discriminatory practices and improving community attitudes to educating children who are often excluded or overlooked.
- Improve the quality of education – Including enhancing the quality of teaching and learning, improving access to extra-curricular support, increasing child friendly resources, and increasing access to aspirational vocational training opportunities including STEM, IT and the green economy.
- Improve the sustainability of education projects – Including encouraging educational projects with integrated community management or ownership, self-generating income and minimising their environmental impact.
Funding is available for one to three years, with a maximum of £35,000 per year for multi-year projects. Grants can cover 25% to 100% of project costs, although projects with some match funding are preferred. Overheads of up to 20% of the grant can be included.

- UK registered charities can apply.
- Annual income must be between £100,000 and £1.5 million.
- Applicants need at least three years of submitted accounts.
- Projects must benefit young people aged under 25 in marginalised or deprived communities.
- New, pilot or recently started projects are eligible.
Around £450,000–£500,000 is awarded annually to international projects. Applications use a two-stage process. The deadline for stage 1 applications is 5 October 2026, with decisions due on 20 January 2027.
