Funding to Increase Participation in Volunteering & Tackle Loneliness (England)

Accredited and non-accredited museums in England can apply for grants of up to £100,000 to help widen participation in volunteering and tackle loneliness.

Funded by the Department for Culture, Media and Sport’s Know Your Neighbourhood Fund, the Association of Independent Museums Connected Communities scheme aims to increase the well-being of vulnerable and under-represented groups in twenty-seven disadvantaged areas, and offer volunteering opportunities that allow individuals to actively engage with their local museum and establish meaningful relationships.

Examples could include social prescribing projects where individuals engage in behind-the-scenes museum tours, volunteering projects to enhance skills and confidence among unemployed individuals, and projects that repurpose museum spaces or buildings in innovative ways to benefit communities. Partnerships or consortia are encouraged.

The deadline for expressions of interest is 12pm on the 8th June 2023.
