Grant News
The Government has announced that round one of the Connect Fund has reopened to applications, offering funding to support initiatives that strengthen East–West collaboration between communities in Northern Ireland and the rest of the UK.
The fund is offering reduced maximum grants of £9,999 for the remainder of the round, in line with the availability of remaining funds.
The fund aims to help local organisations tackle shared challenges and access opportunities through partnerships to improve the lives of communities in Northern Ireland.
Activities may take place in either Northern Ireland or Great Britain, provided Northern Ireland stakeholders are involved.
Projects should aim to:
- Strengthen East-West connections by developing long-lasting civic relationships
- Propose an original approach to developing East-West connections
- Support the development of cultural, sports and people-to-people links
- Build leadership capability opportunities for community leaders on an East-West basis
- Facilitate positive and constructive dialogue on shared opportunities/challenges facing communities in the UK
Funding can be used for standalone/one off projects (e.g. attending a conference or facilitating a visit) or for longer term proposals (e.g. establishing a UK-wide forum for community organisations).
Eligible applicants include registered charities, voluntary and community sector bodies, civic groups, not-for-profit companies, Community Interest Companies, and statutory organisations.
The Connect Fund, administered by the Northern Ireland Office, closes for applications on the 10th February 2027. Round 1 may close early if all funds have been allocated.
