Funding for Expressive Arts Activities in Schools (Wales)

The Arts Council of Wales has launched a new fund to help children develop their skills and knowledge in the expressive arts.

The Have a Go Fund provides grants of up to £1,500 to support schools in providing opportunities for children aged 16 and under to participate in hands-on expressive arts activities and workshops.

The programme provides grants of up to £1,500 to support schools working with arts organisations or creative practitioners in delivering the Expressive Arts Area of Learning, which includes:

  • art
  • dance
  • drama
  • film and digital media
  • music

Activities can be delivered either in or out of school, during school hours, or as extra-curricular activities.

Up to 90% of the total cost of the visit will be funded, with a minimum of 10% match funding required.

Applications are open to:

  • state-maintained schools
  • pupil referral units
  • arts and cultural organisations based in Wales

The funding is available until March 2026, and applications are accepted from state-maintained schools, pupil referral units, and arts and cultural organisations on a rolling basis.
