Grants Available to Enhance Community Facilities in Welsh Coalfield Areas (Wales).
The Coalfields Regeneration Trust (CRT) is distributing £150,000 of Welsh Government funding through CRT Support grants to enhance community facilities in Welsh coalfield areas. These grants aim to protect and improve vital spaces for health, wellbeing, learning, and connection, with applications accepted on a rolling basis throughout the year.
Two funding streams are available.
- The Capital Grant offers £500 to £7,000 for physical improvements to community buildings, covering repairs, refurbishments, energy efficiency measures, and equipment purchases. Eligible organisations must be based in or benefit Welsh coalfield communities, have an annual unrestricted income under £500,000, own the facility or hold a 5-year lease, and apply for capital-only costs.
- Surveys and Professional Fees, funds up to two professional surveys per organisation, such as Building Condition, Asbestos, Energy Efficiency, or Structural Surveys, to aid future planning..
To be eligible to apply organisations must be based in:
- Blaenau Gwent
- Bridgend
- Caerphilly
- Carmarthenshire
- Merthyr Tydfil
- Neath Port Talbot
- Powys
- Rhondda Cynon Taff
- Torfaen
- Swansea
- Wrexham
- Specific wards in Flintshire: Ffynongroyw, Gronant, Mostyn, Trelawnyd & Gwaenysgor, and Whitford.
Beyond funding, CRT offers free support, including help with other funding sources, training, and networking.
