Grant News
The Ministry of Justice and HM Prison and Probation Service have opened the Women’s Diversionary Activity Grant for applications. The programme will provide around £25.6 million between 1 January 2027 and 31 March 2029 to support women aged 18 and over who are in, or at risk of escalating within, the criminal justice system.
The Ministry of Justice is the UK government department responsible for justice policy, courts, prisons, probation and reducing reoffending. The funding aims to help divert women away from further involvement in the criminal justice system, particularly custody, through gender-specific and trauma-informed support.
Voluntary and community organisations can apply. Applicants must be registered charities, exempt charities or social enterprises, and may apply as a single organisation, a lead organisation working with partners, or an umbrella consortium. All funded work must be delivered on a not-for-profit basis.
Key points include:
- the fund will be competed across 12 Lots based on probation region;
- services should support women’s centres and whole-system approaches;
- funded activity should help reduce reoffending, prevent custody and address wider needs linked to community safety and violence against women and girls;
Applications close at 10am on Friday 24 July 2026.
