Manchester Airport Community Trust Fund (Manchester)

The Manchester Airport Community Trust Fund is a registered charity that actively promotes, enhances, improves, and protects both the natural and built environments in the communities surrounding Manchester Airport. Each year, Manchester Airports Group contributes £100,000 to the Fund. The Fund also receives payments from fines imposed on aircraft that breach strict noise limits. The Trust Fund uses these resources to support neighbourhood and community projects within approximately a 10-mile radius of the Airport, focusing on the areas most affected by aircraft noise.

The Fund supports projects that have a positive impact in the community. Eligible applicants include established groups or charities with ‘Not for Profit’ status that focus on community, social, or environmental issues and operate within the area of benefit.

Projects can receive grants of up to £3,000 if they meet the following criteria:

  • Improve, enhance, protect, or conserve the natural and built environment or contribute to heritage conservation;
  • Promote or advance social welfare;
  • Foster a greater appreciation of the natural and urban environment;
  • Create safe habitats for flora and fauna;
  • Demonstrate lasting benefits to the community;
  • Benefit all members of the community regardless of race, gender, or religion;
  • Come from established groups or charities with clear banking or financial records (the Fund does not support individuals or commercial organisations working for profit).

Here are some examples of previously supported projects:

  • Sale Water Park Conservation Volunteers: £1,202 for materials to create log seating for an outdoor amphitheatre
  • Hazel Grove Brass Band, Stockport: £1,500 for percussion instruments
  • Budworth Sailing Club: £3,000 for new jetties

Schools or other community buildings must show how they provide services or facilities to the broader community beyond their statutory obligations and how people can access these outside of regular opening hours.

The next application deadline is 6th September 2025.
