Grants of up to £5,000 Available to Encourage People to Walk, Wheel & Cycle (Greater Manchester)

Transport for Greater Manchester is making grants of up to £5,000 available to support projects that encourage people to walk, wheel, or cycle more often.

The grants are available through Transport for Greater Manchester’s Small Grants Programme.

The funding can be used for one-off purchases or small activities that remove a barrier or unlock an opportunity. This might include:

  • bikes, trikes, balance bikes, adaptive cycles or cargo cycles
  • cycle equipment such as helmets, locks, lights, panniers or maintenance tools
  • small storage solutions such as sheds, lockers or bike containers
  • one day events, taster sessions or confidence building activities
  • materials for simple improvements that support active travel (e.g. signage, maps, pumps, basic equipment)
  • creative projects, such as films, podcasts or artwork.
  • small infrastructure improvements
  • community projects

The scheme is open to voluntary and community groups, registered charities, social enterprises, community interest companies, schools, colleges, universities, NHS healthcare providers, Wheels and Walks programme groups, and TfGM bike libraries.

Applications close at 12pm on 20 April 2026.
