Grant News
Firstport, Scotland's development agency for start-up social entrepreneurs, offers the 'Pounds for Purpose' grant to empower young individuals aged 16 to 26 to initiate projects that drive positive social or environmental change within their communities.
The funding can be used to cover essential start-up costs, such as venue hire, promotional materials, or insurance. The programme aims to support ideas that are well-developed and ready for implementation, particularly those with potential to evolve into sustainable social enterprises.
To qualify, applicants must be permanent residents of Scotland, developing their projects independently or with a small team, and not on behalf of established organisations like colleges or universities. The proposed initiatives should primarily benefit Scottish communities, avoid political campaigning or religious advancement, and be in the pre-launch phase. Recipients are expected to utilise the grant and report on their project's progress within six months.
Applications for the 'Pounds for Purpose' grant are accepted on a rolling basis, with no specific closing date. Interested individuals can apply through Firstport's website, where comprehensive guidance notes and the application form are available. Additionally, Firstport offers one-to-one business advice to assist applicants in refining their ideas and enhancing their chances of securing funding.
