Birmingham City Council Launches £200,000 Cultural Funding Programme (West Midlands)

Birmingham City Council has opened its 2026 to 2027 culture grant programme, offering four grants of £50,000 to support cultural activity in the city. The council is Birmingham’s local authority and provides services and investment intended to support residents, communities and the local economy.

The Culture and Community Investment Programme will support organisations delivering cultural projects that benefit Birmingham residents and contribute to the city’s cultural offer.

Potentially eligible projects could include:

  • Community arts and creative participation projects.
  • Performances, exhibitions, festivals or cultural events.
  • Heritage activities that explore or celebrate Birmingham’s people, places and history.
  • Projects helping residents take part in music, dance, theatre, visual arts or other creative activity.
  • Work delivered by cultural organisations or community groups that strengthens Birmingham’s local cultural offer

Applicants should note:

  • four separate awards are expected to be made;
  • each successful applicant will receive £50,000;
  • organisations must complete the council’s application process and meet the programme’s eligibility requirements.
