The Department for Business, Energy & Industrial Strategy has announced a new Heat Pump Ready Programme to help the UK’s commitment to achieve net zero by 2050.

The programme will support technical innovation for the development of lower cost, smaller and more efficient heat pump systems.  The funding will be split into three separate delivery streams:

• Up to £30 million in funding will be available through stream one for solutions for high-density heat pump deployment;
• £25 million in funding will be available through a second stream for projects which overcome barriers to heat pump deployment;
• Up to £5 million in funding will be available through a third stream for trial support and learning to help expand uptake.

The programme is expected to launch in winter 2021.
