New Fund Announced to Support the Reduction of Greenhouse Gas Emissions (UK)

The Coop Foundation are launching a new £3 million fund to support food and farming projects that are tackling the climate crisis by reducing greenhouse gas emissions.

Funded through Co-op donations raised from the sale of compostable carrier bags and Co-op Foundation funds, the Carbon Innovation Fund will award grants of between £75,000 and £100,000 to around ten projects per year for three years. Eligible organisations will include UK charities, social enterprises, co-operatives and local, regional and national governments worldwide.

Projects could include:

  • Farming and food production practices  
  • Initiatives around regenerative agriculture/agro-ecology  
  • Community supported agriculture initiatives  
  • Supporting diversity, resilience and learning amongst key players in the food & farming sector  
  • Behaviour change (among consumers or producers)   

The fund opens to first stage applications on the 22nd November 2021 and closes at 12pm on the 10th December 2021.
