Grants of up to £20,000 to Provide and Enhance Community Spaces (UK)

The Asda Foundation has launched its 2025 Local Community Spaces Fund, offering grants of between £10,000 and £20,000 to UK-based charities and not-for-profit organisations that manage community spaces.

Eligible applicants include youth clubs, amateur sports clubs, village halls, and organisations such as the Scouts, Guides, and Cadets. The initiative aims to support the repair, renovation, or development of accessible community spaces that encourage social interaction and deliver vital local services.

A total of £1.25 million has been allocated to the fund, with around 70 projects expected to receive support.

This funding opportunity responds to the demand for safe, inclusive, and welcoming communal spaces, particularly in light of findings from the Foundation’s Community Insight Survey, which highlighted increasing concerns about loneliness and social isolation.

Eligible projects may include:

  • Essential repairs to preserve space usability
  • Renovations to expand capacity or enhance functionality
  • Creation of new community facilities
  • Improvements to accessibility within existing buildings

To qualify, organisations must have an annual income of less than £250,000 and operate an existing community space. Priority will be given to groups that demonstrate:

  • Strong financial and operational stability
  • A proven track record of community engagement
  • Service to areas experiencing significant economic and social challenges

The application deadline is 10:00 AM on 28 May 2025, though the fund may close earlier if oversubscribed. Applicants must first complete an eligibility check on the Asda Foundation website to access the application form.

Funding decisions will be announced by September 2025, and successful projects must be completed by December 2026.
