Funding to Increase Film Audience Choice & Engagement (UK)

UK-based organisations with experience of film distribution, exhibition and audience development (such as film distributors, cinemas, and film festivals) will soon be able to apply for funding to increase audience choice and engagement across the UK.

The British Film Institute National Lottery Audience Projects Fund will support the delivery of audience development activity with awards of up to £200,000 for multi-year and short-term projects (up to £500,000 for exceptional projects), as well as grants of up to £20,000 for research and development.

Eligible projects include:

  • Marketing initiatives
  • Film festivals
  • Film distribution, including cinema and online
  • Immersive installations and tours
  • In-venue programmes / seasons
  • Touring projects
  • In-venue audience analysis projects

The fund will open to applications on the 4th November 2022.

Applications will be accepted all year round but must be submitted 16 weeks before the start of any funded activity.
