Grants of up to £25,000 to Tackle the Root Causes of Violent Crime (South Yorkshire)

The South Yorkshire Violence Reduction Unit has launched its Community Grants Fund for 2025. It aims to reduce rising violence by backing local, projects across Barnsley, Doncaster, Rotherham and Sheffield.

Applicants can request grants of up to £25,000. Funding is available for one-year projects. The Small Grants Fund seeks to invest in grassroots initiatives that address the root causes of violence.

The grant supports projects under five themes:

  • preventing knife crime;
  • reducing violence against women and girls;
  • coaching and mentoring to reduce violence;
  • diversion through sport;
  • tackling racial disproportionality in youth violence.

Eligible projects include those that promote positive relationships, tackle domestic abuse, support substance misuse recovery, or provide pathways into education and employment.

Charities, community groups, social enterprises and other not-for-profit organisations across Barnsley, Doncaster, Rotherham and Sheffield may apply. Applications close at midday on 3 July 2025.
