£3 Million Investment in Rehabilitation Across the Criminal Justice System (England and Wales)

His Majesty’s Prison and Probation Service (HMPPS) has launched a £3 million initiative to support evidence-based projects that improve rehabilitation outcomes in prisons, probation services, and youth custody across in England and Wales.

Open to voluntary, community, and social enterprise organisations, the Rehabilitation Grants Scheme will provide grants of £50,000 to £150,000 per year for projects lasting between six months and three years.

The aim of the funding is to help the voluntary sector to support HMPPS to:

  • reduce demand on the Probation Service in the community
  • improve resettlement and rehabilitation outcomes for people in prison
  • provide vital support to families

In line with these priorities, the grant scheme is particularly welcoming bids that:

  • help reduce prison recalls
  • support referrals and diversionary activities

Applicants must have an annual turnover of at least twice the value of the annual grant requested.

Applications may be submitted individually or as part of a consortium, through a two-stage process.

The deadline for stage one applications is 12pm on the 6th October 2025. Organisations successful at this stage will be invited to submit a full application.
