Grants of up to £10,000 are available to charities, social enterprises and other not-for-profit organisations working to improve Black men’s mental health.
The Addressing Mental Health Inequalities in Minority Ethnic Groups Grants programme is delivered by the Leeds Community Foundation, in partnership with Synergi-Leeds.
The funding will enable Black-led community initiatives to work alongside statutory services to reduce the rate at which Black men aged 18 and over are detained under the Mental Health Act.
Activity should address one of the following:
- Upstream Interventions
- Reducing stigma and increasing trust with services/pathways
- Supporting recovery in communities
Eligible activities could include:
- Creative approaches and/or safe, trusted spaces to engage
- Supporting people with gaining access to, and maintaining engagement with, appropriate services
- Capacity-building, e.g. skills building for staff and volunteers, paying for a mental health professional’s time, evaluation, use of new technologies, relationship building with local statutory services
- Providing flexible individual support, combined with peer support, as appropriate
Small unincorporated organisations with an annual income below £10,000 can apply for up to £5,000.
Around five to eight projects will be funded.
The deadline for applications is 12pm on 28 April 2026.
