Funding for Charities Supporting the Armed Forces Community (UK)

The British Forces Broadcasting Service (BFBS) has opened applications for its Big Salute Grant, which offers funding for projects that benefit the UK Armed Forces community in the UK and overseas. The Big Salute is its annual fundraising campaign, with 100% of donations going directly into the grant fund.

The initiative is aimed at registered charities with an annual income below £1 million that deliver activities that improve wellbeing, connection, and morale among serving personnel, reservists, veterans, and their families.

Eligible projects might include community events, creative activities, or services that strengthen mental health and reduce social isolation.

Previous grants have helped charities like Army Widows run a respite weekend, Beyond the Battlefield fund a veteran ‘Meet Up Eat Up’ breakfast club, Launchpad set up a homeless veterans’ cycle club in Liverpool, and Rugby for Heroes run a coaching course for service leavers.

Projects must begin after January 2027 and should demonstrate clear, measurable benefits within one year of funding.

Applications close on 31 July 2026.
