The Home Office has announced that the 2026/2027 Community Engagement Fund is open for applications. A total of £150,000 is available for short, community-based projects that raise awareness of Windrush support schemes and tackle misinformation.
The programme is aimed at improving understanding of the Windrush Compensation Scheme and Windrush Documentation Scheme, while also building trust and gathering insight from affected communities.
Eligible applicants include grassroots organisations, registered charities, community interest companies, unincorporated charities or community organisations, and partnerships led by an eligible body. Applicants must have at least two years’ experience of Windrush-related community engagement within the last three years, and projects must include at least one in-person event. Local authorities, individuals and private companies are not eligible.
Funding can support:
- events, including venue hire, refreshments and related delivery costs
- marketing materials such as posters and leaflets
- in-person and online communications campaigns
- use of channels such as social media or local radio
- justified staff time linked directly to the project.
The fund is intended to support communities from the Windrush generation, including both Caribbean and non-Caribbean backgrounds, and all spending must fall within the 2026/27 financial year. Applications close at 4pm on 12 May 2026. Award decisions are expected in July 2026 and projects should begin in August.
