Funding for up to £25,000 for Financial Wellbeing and Climate Action Projects (UK)

The Aviva Foundation has announced that its Communities Fund is open for applications from small UK charities and not-for-profit organisations. The Foundation supports practical solutions to social and environmental challenges. More than £2 million is expected to be distributed annually.

Funding supports two themes:

  • Financial wellbeing - helping people feel more secure and in control of their money. This could include budgeting support, debt advice, financial education, or money management.
  • Climate action - helping communities prevent, prepare for, and adapt to the impacts of a changing climate. This might involve restoring nature, improving access to green spaces, or providing education and skills for a sustainable future.

Core costs can be funded where an organisation’s main purpose aligns with these themes.

Key highlights:

  • UK charities, CIOs, CICs and CLGs can apply
  • Annual income must not exceed £1 million
  • Organisations must have operated for at least 12 months
  • Up to £25,000 match funding per organisation per year
  • Individual donations are matched up to £250.

Applications are accepted on a rolling basis, with no fixed closing date. Organisations first submit their project through the Crowdfunder platform, where Crowdfunder UK checks eligibility and assesses the application against the Aviva Foundation Communities Fund criteria.

If approved, the organisation launches a six-week public crowdfunding campaign. During this period, eligible donations can be matched by the Aviva Foundation, subject to the fund’s limits and conditions.

The Aviva Foundation also runs the Financial Futures Fund, which is currently closed for applications. The programme supports larger UK organisations working on long-term solutions to improve financial resilience and tackle the underlying causes of financial insecurity.
