A scholarship programme designed to address the shortage of modern foreign language teachers in England is currently inviting applications.

These scholarships offer financial support worth up to £28,000, along with professional development opportunities for individuals who want a career as a secondary school language teacher.

To be eligible, applicants must have:

• a 2:1, or predicted 2:1 in a Bachelor of Honours degree (or equivalent) or a relevant PhD or Master's degree, or recognised equivalent in French, German or Spanish
• secured a place on an eligible non-salaried languages teacher training scheme in England for the 2025/26 academic year by September 2025

Applicants with a bachelor of honours degree (or equivalent) in another subject, or a 2.2 (or predicted 2.2) may also be considered if they can demonstrate significant knowledge of the target languages. 

The closing date for applications is the 16th June 2025.
