Funding to Improve the Health & Wellbeing of Unpaid Carers (Scotland)

Voluntary, community, and public sector organisations in Scotland can now apply for grants through the National Lottery Community Fund's Supporting Change – Carers programme.

This initiative funds long-term projects that reduce health inequalities experienced by unpaid carers through systems change. This could involve changing how carers access services, collaborating with different organisations and sectors, or making sustained changes in how unpaid care is valued and discussed.

Grants of between £500,000 and £2 million will be awarded to support approximately 4 to 5 projects over 5 to 10 years.

Up to £50,000 in development funding is also available.

Projects must involve people with lived experience, particularly those who do not see themselves as unpaid carers. This can include:

  • parents that care for a child with additional support needs or disabilities
  • older people that care for their partner
  • people that care for someone with an addiction
  • young carers
  • LGBTQ+ carers
  • ethnically minoritised carers

Partnerships and collaborations can also apply.

The closing date for applications is the 28th August 2025.
