Grant News
Community organisations across England are invited to apply for funding through the Windrush Day Grant Scheme 2026, a national programme that supports projects commemorating, celebrating, and educating about the Windrush generation and their descendants.
The scheme is funded by the Ministry of Housing, Communities & Local Government and delivered by Near Neighbours, with up to £500,000 available for projects in 2026.
Individual grants of £5,000 to £25,000 are available to support community-led activities that raise awareness of the Windrush story, celebrate the contributions of the Windrush generation, and inspire younger generations. Funded projects may include public events, cultural celebrations, exhibitions, performances, workshops and educational activities.
Applications are open to a wide range of organisations based in England, including registered and exempt charities, community interest companies, social enterprises, community benefit societies and local authorities. Unregistered community groups may also be eligible if they can demonstrate appropriate governance and financial arrangements.
Projects must be delivered in England, and funding cannot be used for costs incurred before approval. Activities must be inclusive, non-political and focused on community engagement and cohesion.
Near Neighbours will run a series of bidding workshops. Information on these can be found here.
Applications close: 23:59 Tuesday 10th February 2026.
