New £7.5 Million Fund Launched to Support Communities (Scotland)

SP Energy Networks is inviting charities, community groups and not-for-profit organisations in eligible areas of Scotland to apply for funding through its Community Benefit programme.

Delivered in partnership with Localgiving, the programme supports projects that make lasting improvements to local communities, strengthen local economies and protect the environment.

Eligible organisations, including charities, community groups and Community Interest Companies (CICs), can apply for grants of up to £ 20,000. Applicants must be based in designated community council areas near SP Energy Networks' electricity transmission projects. Organisations can check whether their area qualifies using the postcode checker on the Localgiving website.

The funding supports a wide range of community projects, including:

  • Helping people manage their money and improve financial security.

  • Providing training, developing skills and helping people find employment.

  • Reducing social isolation, improving wellbeing and helping people access digital services.

  • Improving community buildings and shared spaces.

  • Protecting green spaces and improving access to nature.

  • Supporting affordable, accessible and environmentally friendly transport.

Projects should respond to local needs and make a positive difference to people living in eligible communities.

The current funding round closes at 5pm on Friday 6 November 2026, with applicants expected to receive a decision in February 2027.
