Grants of up to £500,000 Available for Community Projects to Tackle Inequality and Poor Health (Scotland)

Not-for-profit organisations in Scotland can apply for grants of £20,001 to £500,000 through The National Lottery Community Fund’s Fairer Life Chances programme.

The programme aims to strengthen communities and improve the lives of people experiencing poverty, disadvantage or discrimination.

Projects must focus on at least one of two aims:

  • helping children, young people and families thrive,
  • improving people's relationships, social connections, and physical or mental health.

Projects must support people experiencing poverty, disadvantage or discrimination and should be developed and led with the involvement of the communities they aim to help.

Activities could include:

  • family support hubs,
  • mental health support networks,
  • outreach services for young people with experience of care,
  • and specialist support groups for isolated carers.

Eligible applicants include registered charities, voluntary and community organisations, and public sector bodies.

Funding is available for projects lasting up to five years, with most grants expected to be less than £250,000. Applicants must explain how they will measure the success of their project and reach people who may struggle to access support.

Applications can be submitted at any time, with funding decisions usually made within around 12 weeks. Organisations must contact The National Lottery Community Fund to discuss their project idea before applying.
