Grants of up to £50,000 Available to Promote British Music Overseas (UK)

The Music Export Growth Scheme offers grants of between £5,000 and £50,000 to support UK-registered independent music companies in promoting British music in overseas markets.

The funding is made available by the British Phonographic Industry (BPI) in partnership with the Department for Business and Trade (DBT).

This scheme aims to enhance international growth for British music artists by supporting campaigns that include promotional efforts, touring support, media appearances, and distribution opportunities in targeted markets.

Eligible companies must have an annual turnover below €50 million, employ fewer than 250 people, and comply with EU aid limitations of €200,000 within a three-year period. The scheme requires that successful applicants match at least 50% of the funding from their own resources, demonstrating a committed investment in the proposed project.

The application process requires an online submission, where companies must present a detailed marketing campaign plan. This plan should highlight past domestic successes, provide evidence of target market interest, and outline a comprehensive strategy for engagement in the chosen market, including PR, digital advertising, or potential live appearances.

The closing date for the current funding round is the 6th December 2024, with successful applicants notified in January 2025.

Applications must be completed through the BPI portal, and the BPI and DBT will review and shortlist applicants based on their campaign’s merit, with a final selection by an expert panel.
